The convex plane of the Catalyst Contour Paddles contours to the form of an athlete's palm, offering a very natural swim experience.  The curved surface serves to guide the arm through the stroke to accentuate a proper form by keeping the hand in-line when correct and throwing the hand off-course when incorrect.  An excellent material for hand paddles, Polypropylene is used because of its wonderful balance between impact resistance and flexibility.
